Critical to completing a safe LASIK procedure
is precise measurements of the curves of the cornea.
Keratometry refers to the measuring of these curves
of the cornea. With these measurements, your LASIK
surgeon can design a safe and effective protocol
for your surgery.
Sugarland Eye & Laser Center is pleased to offer
autokeratometry to our patients. Autokeratometry
is the latest advancement in keratometry. Rather
than relying on manual measurements which are
prone to human error, autokeratometry is a computer
controlled experience. The sophisticated optical
system works with advanced computer programming
to obtain the most accurate and precise measurements
of corneal curvature. The results are verified
by our surgeon before being used to designing
a customized LASIK treatment pattern. With autokeratometry,
LASIK patients can rest assured that their treatment
is being designed around measurements that are
not subject to human error.
