Droopy Eyelids
Droopy eyelids, or dermatochalasis, can be addressed
with blepharoplasty. This outpatient procedure
can usually be completed in less than one hour.
The loose skin above the eyes is removed in a
very safe manner that protects the eyes and the
surrounding regions. Incision are made in hidden
regions and cosmetic closure with tiny sutures
ensure that scarring is minimal.
Blepharoplasty can be functional or cosmetic.
A functional blepharoplasty refers to the procedure
when the dermatochalsis interferes with the patient's
field of vision. The surgery results in the patient
having better peripheral vision.
If the dermatochalasis is not interfering with
the patient's vision, a blepharoplasty can be
completed to address any cosmetic concerns that
the patient might have. Dermatochalasis can make
you look older, and cosmetic blepharoplasty can
remove the droopiness of your eyelids responsible
for making you look worn and tired.
