Cataract refers to the natural lens of your eye when it turns cloudy usually due to age. During cataract surgery, this cloudy lens is removed and a new clear synthetic lens is implanted in its place. Generally, the implanted lens is monofocal, meaning it can only focus light coming into the eye from one particular distance. Usually, the lens power is chosen to allow the eye to approximately focus on far away objects, but glasses are still needed for up close vision.

Revolutionary multifocal lens technology can restore clarity to your vision for far, near, and in between without the need for glasses! These lenses have concentric rings with varying focusing distances. After a brief adaptation period, these rings allow the patient to see clearly at different distances without glasses!
